What is our film about?

Our film is about a man who has a normal life until he has a flashback, and then everything changes.  The flashback a man has as he is walking down the street like it is any other normal day, he sees his mother and his father fighting, then watches his father murder his mother, however his father doesn’t know that he has been watching from underneath the bed. The man is angry about this so he then continues to track down his father and has a hellish journey in for him when he finds him. He keeps on searching for his father, not knowing if he is dead or not, but he is determined to track down his father and avenge his mother’s death even if he ends up in jail for killing his father himself. 10 years later and he has become obsessed with the hunt, he still hasn’t found his father, and the pain and time it has caused him has been wasted, or so he feels, but it hasn’t. After 5 years of giving up he gets onto a bus to see his father sat on a seat, not realising that it’s his son, the son continues on until the father gets off and at his stop he gets off and follows him home, and the father is never seen again.
The opening will show a man walking down the street, and then having a sudden flashback, so he looks like he is day dreaming. The flashback horrifies him and angers him at the same time. Once the flashback has happened the film goes to the open credits where it is shown that he starts doing his research in order to find his father like how the opening credits where the killer is covering up his tracks except in our opening he will be researching.
Our film fits in with the genre of a thriller, because it will contain suspense and excitement making you wonder what is going to happen next, therefore keeping you in your toes. It will also have the psychological elements to it that a thriller will usually contain. The music will be like a thriller, slow and have a creepy essence like most thrillers, giving Goosebumps. Also the violence in the opening will make it a thriller, the way the mother is beaten to death by the father.

The Plot

The plot of our film is in a flashback a man has as he is walking down the street like it is any other normal day, he sees his wife and a man the man is trying to kill his wife, he then sees this take place however this man doesn’t know he was watching. The husband is angry about this so he then continues to track down the murderer and has a hellish journey in for him when he finds him. He keeps on searching for the killer, not knowing if he is dead or not, but he is determined to track down the killer and avenge his wife’s death even if he ends up in jail for killing the man himself. 10 years later and he has become obsessed with the hunt, he still hasn’t found the killer, and the pain and time it has caused him has been wasted, or so he feels, but it hasn’t. After 5 years of giving up he gets onto a bus to see the man sat on a seat, the killer is oblivious that the man has noticed him, the man continues on until the murderer gets off and at his stop he gets off and follows him home, and the killer is never seen again.

Rated 15 for some brutal violence and language.

A post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind.

Rated 18 for grisly afterviews of horrific and bizarre killings, and for strong language.

Rated 18 for strong graphic violence and drug use, pervasive strong language and some sexuality.

Who is the film aimed at? Gender and age...

Our film will be aimed at both men and women who enjoy thrillers. The age will be 15 years and older as a thriller isn't suitable for anyone younger than 15.

This Cinema attendance graph shows that since 1984 the attendance for 15-24 years old has almost tripled. The age range that attends the cinema most is between 15-24. The age range that attend the cinema the least is 35 years and over. The percentage of children between 7- 14 has gone from 10% to 40% in 18 years. As more films are becoming better more children are wanting to go to the cinema.

This is the cinema attendance for whole countries. Its interesting to see that India has the the highest cinema attendance, higher than the united states. The United Kingdom is ranked number 8 compared to the countries before it this is low due to come of the countries before it being poorer than the United Kingdom.

There were 164 million visits to UK cinemas in 2008. This was 1.1 per cent more than in 2007, but 6.7 per cent less than 176 million visits in 2002, the most recent peak in cinema admissions. There was no difference in the proportion of men and women going to the cinema at least once a year but 20 per cent of males, aged seven and over, went to the cinema at least once a month compared with 17 per cent of females.

This shows the age range of the people who will probably watch our thriller.

Location Report

Our film opening will be set in 3 main locations - Wellington town, a room in college and Matty's House.

We have chosen to use Wellington because it's near our college and an easy location for us to get to college, if we need help with some filming we will be able to go back to college and have help off of our media teacher.

We have chosen to use a room in college because of the desk we need to use and that it's an easy for us all to meet.

We have chosen to use Matty's house because for our flashback we need to film under a bed and using a house will create the realism of the film.

Cast List

Our Cast List is small as we don't need many people in our film, as there are minimal characters, especially in the opening.

Matthew Janke - The Son
Jorj Allen - Attacker/Murderer
Kealy Hughes - Murdered Mum

Questionnaire

This is my questionnaire which i am going to give to individuals within college, hopefully the results i recieve will give me an insight into the target audience i need to appeal to, and also the sub genre of Thriller i would be best using.

Props List

To make our film realistic and as effective as possible, we will have to create a props and costume list, in order to ensure that anything we could use is thought of.
We will need...
·         Newspaper cuttings
·         A cream, aged looking table cloth
·         Family photographs
·         Small knife (for scraping faces off the photographs)
·         Rope
·         Chair
·         Table
·         Large knife
·         Fake blood
·         Note pad
·         Fountain pen

There will be no particular costumes for our film; the clothes will just be usual casual clothes. The clothes the cast will be wearing will be fairly simplistic to give them a timeless look and not being specific to a certain time period. There will be no change of clothes in the flashback, because it will be black and white so the simplistic clothing will appear slightly different anyway.

Preliminary Task

Whilst editing my preliminary task i have realised that the lighting between shots was different, which if reshooting would be something i would alter. Also some of the manourisms used were different when trying to piece together the shots, making the continuity less effective. However, we stayed within the criteria as we filmed Jenny walking through the door, closing it behind her, and then used the over the shoulder shots that are typically used to film a conversation, abiding by the 180 degree rule.
