Film Classification

Not encourage discriminatory langue and behaviour
Can show drug use, but not promote it- especially not easily accessible substances such as solvents and aerosols
No sexualised or sadistic threat
Not dwell on detail during dangerous behaviour
Weapons must not be glamorised
Frequent strong language is permitted, if it’s not constantly repeated or aggressive. The strongest terms are acceptable if in context
Nudity is allowed, but no major detail
Sex is also permitted if not in strong detail, strong references are only justified if in context
All themes can be used, providing appropriate for 15 year olds
There may be strong violence, but not dwell on pain or injury.
Portrayal of sexual violence must only used when in clear context, otherwise is not justified.

Material must not be in breach of criminal law
Must not appear to risk harm to individuals through behaviour or to society
Mustn’t include explicit images of sexual activity which can’t be justified
Within the ‘18’ film classification, there are 2 subsections- sex works and sex education...
Sex education: seeks to inform in matters about sexuality, safe sex and health
Sex works: primary purpose is sexual arousal. Contains clear images of real sex, fetish material and explicit animated images.
